I recently discovered a place that I had no idea existed! In a Facebook post asking about local activities, someone suggested Just Add Chocolate, so, obviously, I had to go.
Just Add Chocolate is a unique experience where you learn how to make chocolate, and then get to make and take home your own chocolatey creations. We went with some of our favorite friends on Friday ‘date night’ (with a toddler), and we all had a blast!
The experience starts off with instruction on the various types of fillings, and how to make chocolates using them. There were an impressive amount of options, from truffles, to peanut and cookie butters, to candy, caramel, and more. Since we went for their date night, drinks were complimentary, as were a tasty array of samples (Gwendolyn loved the chocolate-and-sprinkle covered pretzel sticks). After instruction, you get an hour and a half to make a half pound of chocolate each.
Once you are finally able to decide what you want to put in your chocolates—which is arguably the hardest part—the chocolate making is super fun. I enjoyed seeing the wide variety in chocolate preferences among our group, and who doesn’t love the idea of making their own personal favorite chocolate flavors?
We all finished just under time, and went home to watch a film and pig out of our creations (because what else can you do?).
This was such a unique experience. The owner, and our host for the evening, was super charismatic and fun; the employees helpful; the process creative; and the chocolates yummy.
Whether you’re looking for a different evening out with friends, or a way to celebrate a birthday, wedding, or other special event, I would highly recommend going to Just Add Chocolate for an evening your’e sure to remember. They say they’re opening another location in Provo soon….I might be in trouble.
