It’s finally summertime, and that means people are flocking to Provo, Utah to check out universities, or visit family and friends. As someone who has spent a (separate, yet) collective 9 years living here, I’ve put together a little travel guide so you can get the most out of your Provo experience.
This guide is meant to be a short-list of reasonably-priced, or free experiences for the student, or traveler. I’ll do some more in-depth individual category posts later.
Food:
- Bombay House –– the best indian food around
- Mozz Pizza –– my all-time favourite pizza
- Green Panda –– delicious, homemade chinese
- Shirley’s Cafe –– great sandwiches (and pastries, and hot chocolate)
- CupBop –– korean bbq in a cup
- Food Truck Roundup — my recommendation…try the grilled cheese
Desserts:
- Rockwell –– best ice cream around
- Taste –– for gourmet chocolate bars, and tastings
- Penguin Brothers –– phenomenal ice cream sandwiches
- Bianca’s Le Petite Bakery –– try the cronuts!

Outdoor Activities:
- Bridalveil Falls –– an easy trail for the whole family
- Bike the Provo River Trail –– why not rent tandem bikes?
- The Shops at Riverwoods —enjoy the evening window shopping, grabbing a bite to eat, or even listening to live music
- Provo Canyon –– if you go past Bridalveil, you can pop into Vivian, South Fork, or Big Springs for some good hiking, or simply to picnic
- Walk Center Street –– many of the eateries I listed can be found here, plus some other shops, as well at the City Center temple. You can even search around for the murals painted all over

Indoor Activities:
- See a show at BYU — whether it’s put on by the school, or a traveling performance
- The Quarry –– move a bit at this indoor rock climbing facility
- Visit a bookstore –– BYU bookstore, or Pioneer books
- Provo Rec Center –– water. slides.
A few of my favourites in the surrounding area:
- The Chocolate –– for a slice of cake!
- Lehi Doughnuts –– the best doughnuts around; definitely get an Old Fashioned!
- Sundance –– You can drive, or hike around in the area, or check out a nice restaurant
- Midway –– a magical land with some fun activities
- Just Add Chocolate –– if you’ve ever wanted to make your own chocolates, this is for you
