little cuties party

This year, we did our second combined birthday party for our kids, because their birthdays are so close together. But this time, with a twist: adding our friend’s baby to the list of celebrated children, as her birthday is right after Gwendolyn’s.

I made this invitation 100% myself, and am extremely proud of the result

One year, maybe I’ll switch off years for who gets a party, but right now, they have all the same friends, so why not go all out and celebrate more than one kiddo? It saves money. At least that’s what I told myself.

The party’s theme was cuties—oranges and greenery. It was c u t e. I was very pleased with the result.

A party’s not a party without food, so my friend, Erin, and I made an assortment of orange themed or infused foods. We also did mini orange bunt cakes, which turned out so well!

Decorations included a balloon half-arch at the food table (though I should have switched where it was with the sun where it was, but oh well).; cutie balloon garlands; some simple flower arrangements; and blown up pictures of the birthday kids.

Since we had a wide range of ages—just in who was being celebrated—we kept the activities simple.

balloon volleyball – I strung leaf-shaped craft paper cutouts onto green twine, and attached that to two dowel. Shove those in the ground, and put out a basket of orange balloons. Easy.

cutie scavenger hunt – using your leaf cutouts again, stick a fun fact about the birthday child (or children) on them, and secure them to cuties with a pin. Send the kids looking for the cuties, then take turns reading the fun fact, and guessing who it’s about!

photo wall – this was by far the most superfluous part of the party, but it did really provide a strong color scheme. I got samples of 6 colors, and painted a long board in each color. Todd rigged it up, and it made for an excellent keepsake photo for our tiny guest list.

juice squeezing As a takeaway, we had guests making their own juice concoctions. We provided lots of oranges, cuties, limes, grapefruit, and lemons. Set it up with a couple of juicers, and some cute bottles, and everyone leaves with a drink they made! Fresh OJ with a little lime is delicious.

It was so fun to get to celebrate all the kids together! Thanks to those who came to celebrate with us.
