Let’s say it’s a Friday night: you want to do something fun, maybe a little different, but you’ve got kids, and aren’t looking to go out for hours. Why not have treat yourselves to a special family night in with cheese and chocolate?
That’s just what we did recently! We had so much fun choosing everything—and eating. It’s a great activity, because everyone can pick something out for themselves, and then everything can be enjoyed together.
We made our way to the Smith’s Marketplace cheese counter, and went a bit nuts—but that’s okay! Charcuterie is super filling. We got:
- 1 soft
- 2 semi-soft
- 2 hard
The cheeses were then paired with
- sea salt crackers
- cashews
- balsamic fig jam
- grapes
As for the dessert course, Todd and I each got a chocolate bar—plus one to share—and Gwendolyn picked out her own tiny bar from our local chocolate boutique.
Personally, I love to try different yummy foods, so this is a great way to eat new things, and have fun experimenting with different flavor combinations. We all ended up happy and full, too!
So, what are you waiting for? If you’re looking for something new to treat your family to, give yourselves a fancy chocolate and cheese night—then let me know how it goes!
Parting poll: What’s your favourite cheese, and what’s your favourite kind (or bar) of chocolate?
