3-6 month boy’s winter capsule wardrobe

Somehow we’ve made it through the ‘4th trimester’ already (don’t worry, there are two more posts in my 4th trimester series still to come)!  With three months behind us, Harry’s moving up in clothing sizes. To be honest, I thought he’d be in size 3-6 at two months, but there were a couple of baggier 0-3s he was still able to wear, so I held off. Unfortunately, now that I’ve broken out his 3-6 capsule, a few outfits are already a touch tight, or perfect fits, so we’ll see how long they last.

With Gwendolyn, when she hit the 3-6 month size, we started adding pants to her wardrobe. However, since we thought we might have needed to size up last month, and since Harry has frequent tummy upsets, we decided staying with no elastic pants was the best course for him. However, we still wanted to have some stylish clothes (not solely pajamas) now since this capsule has the potential to take him through the halfway point in his first year of life. In total, he has 10 outfits; enough for each day + a few blowouts.

Overall, I’m really excited for his wardrobe. You can definitely see that we have a ‘type’. For this one, we have clothes from Gap and Gap Factory, Old Navy, and OskKosh.

I wanted to make sure there was a good balance of footed vs. non-footed outfits. Footed because: winter; and non-footed for babywearing, and just because they will be able to be worn longer.

The color palette is simple, but I really love the various reds, along with the neutral greys. It gives us options, but a very succinct look.

As with both our children’s previous capsule wardrobes, for me, the exciting bit is all in the details. Collars, buttons, and just enough prints to keep things interesting.

So far, he’s only worn a few of the outfits, but they look stinkin’ cute! We were able to keep cost reasonable by shopping sales, and we were able to stay right in our budget.

What do you think? If you’re looking for more capsule inspiration––for babies or toddlers; are wondering how to do a capsule wardrobe; or just want to know why you should consider putting one together for your little, I’ve got posts for all of that.

Good luck!
