At 3 weeks old, Harry already outgrew his newborn clothes. They were just a bit of everything (including stuff from Gwendolyn), because we didn’t know how long he’d be in them. Thank goodness I already has a 0-3 size capsule waiting for him!
I just keep babies in one-pieces and pjs until 3 months, because it’s easier; I have Fall babies that need to start warm; and I don’t want pants’ elastic to upset their tummies. Since each piece is just worn by itself, a capsule isn’t rally necessary. However, I’m in the habit now, and I enjoyed picking clothes that all went well together.
*If you’re wondering why you should do a capsule for you child, are looking for more capsule inspiration (perhaps for a girl); or want to know how to put together a great capsule…I have posts for you.
For this 0-3 capsule, I discovered Target had lots of outfits with woodland prints (I’m a a fan); and lots of foxes. Since we called Harry ‘Kit’ in the womb, I thought it’s be fun and fitting to run with that theme. This put us mostly in the orange and grey range, though we had touches of blue and green. We did 10 outfits––enough to handle lots of newborn clothing changes, but not so many that it was excessive. The capsule has pieces from both Target, and Burt’s Bees Baby.
For me it’s all about the details, whether that be print, or knit, or other detail. It’s what can take a very simple color palette capsule, and make it into something really interesting to look at, and exciting to wear (or put your baby in).
fox ears!!!
I’m really happy with the clothes we got––and everything looks so stinkin’ cute on Harry!
Have you done a baby capsule wardrobe? If so, what are some of your favourite shops? I have a feeling we’ll be needing to upgrade to 3-6 in the not-so-distant future.
