My daughter just had her T H I R D birthday somehow, and Christmas shopping is right around the corner. Since we’re minimalists, and try to keep the number of toys to a very reasonable amount, I thought I’d share my gift guide with anyone else looking for some ideas for their littles.
For her birthday, we’re getting Gwendolyn just ‘one’ big gift, plus accessories. This year will also be our second year doing a 3 gift Christmas (plus Santa and stockings). Not everything on this list will be purchased, but here’s what we’re doing, plus a few other ideas:
balance bike (+ helmet)
CD player (+ cds)
dress up clothes (from etsy)
rainbow blocks or castle blocks
play dough
chalk
voucher for a class or lessons
Basically, Gwendolyn hasn’t outgrown any of the toys she has yet, and has a full toy shelf, so we wanted to avoid adding more when we don’t need it. (In fact, she just told me yesterday “I don’t need any more toys.”) That’s why we ended up with a few smaller, consumable, or outdoor items.
However, she is also very into building right now, and has asked for a bike for 6 months, so we obviously want to make sure to meet her needs there.
Favourite toys of hers that we already have are:
miniature animal and automobile toys
play silks
What are your three-year-old’s favourite toys? How do you manage to keep kid’s toys manageable? I’d love to hear from you!
