Happy New Year! I hope this past year has been alright for you, and that you’re excited for the year to come.
If I had to give one word to describe 2018, it’d be “unexpected”. I didn’t expect to discover, 1.5 years postpartum, that I had diastasis recti. I didn’t expect that Gwendolyn would love my favourite place on earth as much as I do. I didn’t expect to become enthralled with a pink-haired dancer, but these things happen (that’s for my husband, who doesn’t actually read these once they’re published. Maybe he should :P). Who knew we’d not only be buying our first house earlier than we thought, but that we’d have the keys a few hours shy of 3 weeks from the time we first stepped inside? Or that Todd would have to change jobs again in the midst of that process? That Gwendolyn would be so close to my mom, despite living a country apart, or that I’d discover there’s real reasons for my chest pains? It’s been unexpected, but mostly good.
This year, I’ve been proud of Gwendolyn in all areas—she makes my world go ‘round. Todd has really impressed me with his work ethic, and ability to learn new things, especially regarding our new house. For myself, I’ve been proud of my patience (like, it’s so much, much more than I ever thought it’d be), and diligence towards my parenting goals. What makes you proud about your 2018? What about your resolutions; are any of ours the same?
My 2019 goals/resolutions are:
- improve the house
- travel more
- be more diligent in exercising, especially for physical therapy
- keep reading!
- learn to take better photos
- get more plants
- buy more sustainable clothes
I’m really looking forward to 2019, and all it could have in store. Goodbye 2018, thank you for all the wonderful memories, and growth!
